So today is Turkey Day preparation. My chore this year, aside from chopping up various veggies I won't eat, was to bake a cake. The caveat, thrown in by my mother, was that it should look like a turkey.  So prepare yourselves for a pointless sideshow of the process.

I've had a day. My internet went belly up. Normally, this would annoy me, yes, but today, it nearly drove me over the edge....

One more reason why I adore the SCWW conference?

The South Carolina Writer's Workshop offers the Carrie McCray Memorial Literary Awards in three categories: Novel-First Chapter, Poetry, and Non-Fiction.

And despite being a Nervous Nellie about entering competitions, I was bolstered enough by my win in the In Other Words Competition at the Pennwriters Conference earlier in the year to dare submitting work in a couple categories.

Guess what? I won second place in the Non-Fiction category! Needless to say, I am incredibly thrilled to have my work selected for such a fantastic award. So let me publicly thank the South Carolina Writer's Workshop and the judges who reviewed the entries.

Did I mention I'm over the moon about this? Because I am!
