One more reason why I adore the SCWW conference?
The South Carolina Writer's Workshop offers the Carrie McCray Memorial Literary Awards in three categories: Novel-First Chapter, Poetry, and Non-Fiction.
And despite being a Nervous Nellie about entering competitions, I was bolstered enough by my win in the In Other Words Competition at the Pennwriters Conference earlier in the year to dare submitting work in a couple categories.
Guess what? I won second place in the Non-Fiction category! Needless to say, I am incredibly thrilled to have my work selected for such a fantastic award. So let me publicly thank the South Carolina Writer's Workshop and the judges who reviewed the entries.
Did I mention I'm over the moon about this? Because I am!
Annnnd conference over. Sad. I don't leave until tomorrow, so I get another night of the surf lulling me to sleep before I must return to reality.
I feel like I should pretend I'm busy writing my little patootie off, but what I'm really doing is lounging on a squishy bed with my balcony door open, listening to the ocean waves.
I have arrived in Myrtle Beach for the South Carolina Writer's Workshop. I should probably be downstairs searching out the registration desk, but I decided I need pizza more right now. Wanna see the view?
I had a pasta heavy day. So I'm not doing jack. I should be writing, but I'm still trying to muster up some energy for that. Maybe in a couple hours. I guess.
