Moving is hard work, yo.
So, it was a two day drive to South Carolina, mostly because Gracie was overloaded and I couldn't play Speed Racer on the interstates. Traffic was a pain, too. Second day of travel brought a deluge of rain and fog, so I was glad I only had three hours to drive, but it was a LONG three hours.

My arrival in SC was heralded by a stream of tornado warnings that didn't amount to anything, but still, don't fling ten tornado warnings at a chicken-shit, you know?

I was very lucky to have a Boom and her Boomlettes help unpack Gracie. Overall, I don't have THAT much stuff, but with my bum back, after I moved my tote from hell and book boxes upstairs, I nearly wept at the sight of reinforcements. They made quick work of the hassle, and damned if those kids didn't act like it was fun!

My pretty balloons are the highlight of the mess I have laid out right now. But I did get two out of three curtain sets up, and assembled my wire rack wannabe bookshelf and fourteen dollar entertainment center. FYI, Walmart has apparently abandoned their plot to furnish the world's apartments with flimsy aluminum accents, and are now furnishing the world's apartments with flimsy plastic accents.  It'll do, though. Have half the kitchen set up, and a little shelf unit, too, now.

Went to a discount furniture store to find the bed I am in need of. Apparently my wishy-washy decision making skills pay off, because the guy kept lowering prices as I wavered back and forth. Got a good deal on a mattress/boxspring combo and the trimmings, along with a matching night stand. I think that might negate any need for a dresser, because I have pretty decent closet space and might be able to hang all my clothes. At any rate, I'll have a bed before Christmas, and I'll be chilling in a butterfly chair and on an air mattress for a bit. But a couch has been acquired now and will be delivered Tuesday. Woot!

I took my aching body into the shower for the first time, and let me tell you, that shower head doesn't even begin to hint at the awesomeness that is about to stream down from its ancient nozzle. I nearly squeed when I realized how killer my shower is.

I'd like to say the apartment is coming along, but frankly, it looks like a war zone in here right now. But hopefully it'll start looking like a home soon.

Big adjustment? I need to get used to cashiers that carry on conversations with you. I'm from Pennsylvania. I'm used to grunts and eyerolls. Every cashier I have had so far has started talking to me and wasn't finished when the sale was completed, so I had to stay and talk. Weird. I felt a little less lost when Boom got a rude cashier at the Dollar Store who acted a bit put out about having to get a balloon for the birthday girl recipient.

Of course, aside from the moving, there was publication day! Thanks to everyone who helped celebrate, and purchased a copy. Drew In Blue is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and All Romance Books, and I have direct links on the main page of this website. Crazy, confused week, with lots of celebration and nerves. No idea what comes yet, aside from trying to find new ways to promote, promote, promote. I should have some interviews/blog posts/reviews coming up this month, so when I get links, I'll share.

I'm tired. I'm very, very tired. It's a good tired, but man, I need a long winter's nap.

I think it is coming together quite nicely. You are doing it bit by bit and every new thing makes it that much cozier. Yay for polite cashiers. You'll get used to them.
