Coming out of hibernation to post this week's Friday Feature interview with the adorable Jennifer Anderson. Grab a blankie and some hot chocolate and find out what this author of YA and NA is up to!
Who are you and why are you here?
My name is Jennifer Anderson and I've come to take-over your computer! *evil laugh* Kidding. *waves* I write YA and NA contemp romance.
Give us some details about the work you’re promoting.
Like most authors, I'm having an affair with books! Move love stemmed from YA books but over the years, I've yearned for a more adult genre. I've dabbled in romance, erotic, and the like but I found a nice relationship with New Adult. I like the idea of going out on your own, tackling the world and falling in love. My latest release, My Brother's Wedding, follows Allison Daughtry as she comes home to attend her brother's wedding. Except she's not alone. She's brought her best "guy" friend and he pretends to be her fiancé. Cross between keeping up appearances and falling for an old love, Allison has to carefully maneuver her relationships while trying not to let her heart break further.
What’s next for you?
I'm currently toiling away on a new NA about a long lost lover who's returned after being injured while serving overseas. The book is challenging because I'm not familiar with the subject matter. Luckily, I've found some great resources willing to share. Another NA is sitting at Swoon Reads. Drop by, take a read. Let me know what you think. (http://www.swoonreads.com/m/need-to-know)
Favorite movie or television show, and why?
I'm totally obsessed with Reign right now! I've mentioned earlier my love of YA but I have this draw towards historical tales. I even have book earmarked to read about Mary Stewart. I know it won't end well but I'm hoping Hollywood has its way and changes the outcome!
When people discover you’re a writer, chances are good that they’ll pepper you with questions. What is the hardest question to answer?
How did you get started? That question gets me all the time because I didn't grow up wanting to be a writer. No, I wanted to be an artist. But in college, I avoided art classes because I didn't think it would provide much of a financial crutch and supporting myself was important. My writing career started from something really personal and instead of pushing the feelings I felt aside, I threw myself into a new creative outlet.
High school: Your glory days or a hell you couldn’t escape fast enough?
I loved high school! I was a cheerleader (don't hate) and I extremely boy crazy but a prude to boot! Trust. It was a lovely combo...NOT! I was shy (honestly) and clung to my group of younger friends. I felt safe. The real world scared me and I didn't want to leave.
I'm a Foodie. I don't think I can have just one fave but I will say, I love most of what I cook. Creating meals from scratch is another way for me to express myself creatively.
Favorite season of the year?
Fall. I love boots, sweatshirts and scarves! Plus, all the extra fabric hides the large amount of surface area I have!
Best vacation ever?
Disney World...hands down my favorite. I was an adult, with two small kids and we went 2x in 3 years! Loved it! Now that I have another little one, I can't wait to return! It really is the most magical place on Earth!
