Who are you and why are you here?
My name is R. Kyle Hannah, U.S. Army Officer and author of TIME ASSASSINS and its soon to be released sequel, ASSASSIN’S GAMBIT.
I am here because JM invited me, and I’d like to do a little shameless publicity for my books. :D
Can the rogue agent be stopped before he kills his next victim, the President of the United States? Only time will tell…
TIME ASSASSINS, released in 2012, is an alternate history story that chronicles a young apprentice as he trains to be a time traveling assassin, and a rogue assassin as he targets the President of the United States and changes history. The reader will visit JFK, Lincoln, the Wright Brothers and dozens of other critical events in human history. The sequel, due out in early 2014, takes the reader to the days of King Henry and Christopher Columbus as well as to the future…a hint of things to come. ASSASSIN’S GAMBIT is still in editing and will be released from DARK DRAGON PUBLISHING in early 2014.
My first book, TO AID AND PROTECT, was published in 2010. An alien computer, after years of roaming the universe and unsuccessfully interacting with dozens of species, has picked up signals from another sentient species; a species in desperate need of protection. Following the signals, the computer turns its fleet of spider-shaped ships toward the planet Earth. How will the human’s react to the alien computer…and will it be able to finally fulfil its programming To Aid and Protect?
All of my novels are kid friendly (no bad language or suggestive situations) and suitable for all ages.
I am working on the first book of a trilogy…Title TBD. I am also working on a book and screenplay called HYPERION, A sci-fi series that I hope to get picked up for TV in a few years. Still in the early stages, but I love the story.
Write everything done….every idea, every dream, every song lyric: EVERYTHING. And start writing much earlier…I was in my mid thirties before I took it even remotely seriously and in my forties before I was published.
Where do you want to be in five years?
I will be retired from the military and I would love to have one or two successful books or a screenplay. HYPERION or TIME ASSASSINS will make great TV shows…. :D
Your greatest accomplishment? Your greatest failure?
My greatest accomplishment (besides my wife and kids) would be TIME ASSASSINS. It turned out better than I ever hoped and my fear is that it is the best thing I’ll ever write. I hope I continue to get better but there is that little nagging fear that I’ll never top that story.
Greatest failure? That I haven’t yet turned it into a screenplay…but that is something I will rectify in the next few years!
What genre do you write in, and why did you choose that one in particular?
I write sci-fi because I love the thought of traveling to other worlds and the freedom of moving between the stars. I’ve traveled all over the world and met people from very different countries…but we are all the same race. To travel the stars and meet completely alien life…that is something to write about!
Favorite book when you were a child?
Buck Rogers. I got it when I was 10 or 12 and I’ve probably read it twenty times (including again just last year).
Starship Troopers. That is the first book I read by Heinlein and I’ve read it a dozen times. It is not only a fantastic read, but a great view of a futuristic military. As a military veteran, I can’t definitely relate!
If you could collaborate with any author on an exciting new project, who would you choose?
Right now I read just about everything from William C. Dietz and John Scalzi. If I could collaborate on anything, I would choose one of those two authors.
