So, let's see. Topic. Topic.
Drew In Blue update: Drew's officially for sale now, duh. My endless whoring is probably the biggest clue there. Mostly I spend my time scratching my head over how to promote poor Drew, though. No idea how to do that. But I've gotten some awesome reviews! I've started to consolidate them on this page.
I'm really happy with the response. Seems like people 'get' Drew. And my favorite side-effect of being published? Twitter updates from the occasional reader. "I'm reading the shower scene and laughing my ass off!" That kind of thing. LOVE IT. So if you're on Twitter and you kindly buy Drew, feel free to let me know what you think! It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Purchase links for Drew are on the main page if you also feel the urge to recommend it to a friend. No pressure from me. *shoves hard*
What else? Oh, yeah, did you hear about The One Hundred Romances Project? Clicky the linky if you want to see what other schemes I have brewing. This was a late-night brainstorm. Insomnia does strange things in my mind. But luckily, I have a lovely group of readers who have climbed on board to help me make this happen. The point? Support the small-press and indie romance authors who are, like me, out there with great love stories in ebook formats. Sure, the eReader frenzy is at a fever pitch, but it's so easy to get lost in the shuffle. So, I figured it made sense to try and get the word out about stories we might miss as we dig through Amazon and Barnes & Noble and various online retailer sites. So come on over, follow the blog, and support the books we find throughout the year!
On the personal front, I've set up shop in G'ville and become a Carolina Girl. Well, I have if scarfing down endless quantities of BBQ and sweet tea makes you a Carolina Girl. My apartment is quite awesome. Never going to be mistaken for the Ritz-Carlton, I can assure you, but I think it's pretty nifty. My adoration of the Boom Brigade grows on an hourly basis. I'm so glad I get to be closer to 'em!
The purpose for the move was to find a less sluggish job market, because even though I want to be the greatest romance author of all time, I need a day job to keep the roof over my head. Pennsylvania wasn't helping with that, so I headed down here to hopefully find some cash flow. I got a call today from a prospective employer at a really cool place in town, and have an interview scheduled for Monday. Cross your fingers for me, I'd love to get a yes here!
My plan to achieve a more zen-filled 2011 is still doing well. The whole focusing on the good and letting go of and moving away from the bad is helping immensely. Gotta sometimes step away and do that breathing thing, you know? Well, still breathing. And embracing the less toxic air. Smells nice.
Getting back to work on Janie. I've reviewed the first 50K words I have cranked out, and I feel like I left off in the general peak of the story, so I want to go back and start fleshing out what's already there. Which means I'll be drumming up some much needed backstory, working on the Janie/father tensions, and adding to the Janie/David conflict. So, faithful beta-readers, I should be annoying you soon.
Artsy/Fartsy front: I've got myself a little art corner. Once I get steady employment, I want to look for some art classes around town, exploit the creative scene around here and relearn the stuff I used to know. And when spring comes, I'll be crawling all the area with my camera. Looking forward to the creative outlets I can pick and choose from down here!
Complaint of the week: I've lost my laundromat. When I was here on a visit once before, I found a lovely little laundromat in a little strip mall. It had some television sets, a very helpful lady assisting the idiot here who can't figure out which button to push at the right time, and it was very clean and non-scary. And it's totally disappeared. Please, bring back my laundromat!
Idiotic antics of the week: Having to ask Lulu and Boom how to operate a garbage disposal. And having to concede that at some point, Boom might have to show me how to use my damn dishwasher. Technology, man. I don't understand it.
Well, that's all the nonsense I can must for this week. So how are y'alls doing??
